Construction Planning & Design, Management And Health & Safety Case Studies

All elements of projects co-ordinated by Strata Associates

The Grange, Worcestershire This listed Georgian Country House and Estate required extensive refurbishment and remodelling. Strata Associates produced a master plan of the list of works required then followed this up by achieving all necessary planning and listed building consents, costing schedules and building regulation approvals to achieve the following:
  • Timber framed barn conversion – converted coach house to home office and recreation facilities
  • New build – staff accommodation and triple garage
  • The orangery – bespoke designed orangery and external landscaping, requiring liaising with Conservation Team
  • Refurbished indoor pool room
  • New stabling and ménage adjacent to the property
Foresters Cottage, Shropshire Hills This was a dilapidated cottage in a very poor state, unoccupied since the 1960s and so over-grown it was virtually invisible from view. Strata Associates arranged for improvements to be made to the cottage and ultimately gained planning permission for a sympathetic extension to form a three-bedroom cottage and double garage, handling all the planning, design, ecology and building structure issues.
Green Farm Restoration and Extension, South Shropshire For this listed building in the Shropshire Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Strata Associates achieved consents to form a significant garden room extension and entrance lobby. The exciting project required multiple consultations with the Local Planning Authority, involving a full ecological assessment, archaeological watching brief and structural survey.
Maynards Farm, North Shropshire Planning permission was achieved for one of Shropshire’s leading farm shops for the conversion of a farm building to staff accommodation and a skills training room. The project required comprehensive design work, liaisons with the Local Planning Authority and technical support to achieve the conversion. Further proposals are in the pipeline…… www.maynardsfarm.co.uk
Wind Turbine for Farm Holding, South Shropshire Planning permission was achieved in an open countryside location, which required consultations with the Planning Authority regarding its location on-site, a full landscape impact assessment, planning support statement and ecological survey.
Wychnor Bridges, Staffordshire The owner of a large complex of listed farm buildings required a feasibility study to assess the best options for their future development. Planning and listed building consents were achieved for 12 live-work dwellings following much pre-application assessment. This was followed by a flood risk assessment, full structural survey, ecological survey and transport assessment.
Legge Lane, Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham Strata Homes worked alongside Kendrick Homes on the planned conversion of listed workshops and commercial premises in dilapidated state to form mixed-use development, including 20 apartments. Set in the in heart of the Artisan’s Jewellery Quarter, this will form an exciting opportunity for the future developer to provide town centre homes and offices, just a stone’s throw from Birmingham city centre. www.kendrickhomes.co.uk
Ludlow Castle Tennis & Bowling Club This prestigious tennis & bowling club lies close to the grounds of the medieval castle. There was an opportunity for the club to expand its facilities onto neighbouring land, and Strata Associates facilitated a change-of-use application to achieve further car parking and recreational facilities. The site is within the river flood plain, so we managed the whole process with all the necessary surveys to achieve a successful outcome. www.ludlowcastletennis.org.uk
Grove Farm, Lichfield This was a superb diversification and revenue opportunity for our farming client to convert a number of redundant piggery units into luxury boarding kennels. Strata Associates was brought on-board for the planning, design and building regulations. We were then asked to help with expansion plans for the kennels and provide planning support for two further barn conversions for management staff accommodation. www.grovekennels.co.uk
